Brainwash Yourself Into the Exercise Habit

The trick for programming a habit is to reinforce (reward) a good activity, not reward or punish the bad activity (eating junk food). Eventually the mind starts to associate the consequences with the actions. In this case, you do the exercise, you get a reward.

Simple enough, right? But, here is what happens: people will decide that they will take the reward before the exercise. So, after several beers or hours of television, they have lost any incentive that they had to get started. Not many dogs will do a trick after they get a reward. Not many people will work after getting paid.

Behavior conditioning rule #1: The reward comes AFTER the activity.

So, in the case of doing say doing 20 crunches or using the push mower to cut the back lawn, you would reward yourself after the crunches. For instance, after 20 crunches, I would recommend a glass of water or reading the newspaper. (Cutting the back lawn with a push mower earns at least a couple glasses of lemonade.) In my experience, the reward should just be short of total satisfaction.

The reward should not be too over whelming. Not an hour of television, a case of beer or half of a cheese cake. This will set your mind up for failure. Just like a spoiled pet, child, teenager or worker, your mind will tend to wait for the huge reward before doing the slightest bit of initiative.

Now, hearing this sometimes offends people as they do not think that it is very fair. It reminds me of the dieter who gorges on junk on a Wednesday because he or she “was so disciplined” and visited the gym on Monday and Tuesday. That is the wrong reward and the wrong amount.

Even granting large rewards for large efforts has its set backs. Like the lady insists on losing 20-30 pounds and then rewarding themselves with a trip to Mexico or a Liz Clairborne outfit. Each day is like work with no pay. The end seems miles away. In the weight loser’s mind, the dieting and exercise seems like bitter medicine every day. And every day is a small torture session.

Fortunately, there are simpler ways around this goal. For starters, you must go back to the small rewards strategy. In this case of weight-loss, this dieter, could give themselves a mark on the calendar for every day that he/she was true to the diet. Better yet, make that a check mark for every meal that she was true to her diet. There is a greater chance of success with several smaller rewards than a few large ones.

The check marks become the simple reward. Eventually a certain number of check marks, like say, 100, could mean a holiday trip or that fancy outfit. To make it even simpler, every 10 check marks could mean a movie or a visit to a store. 25 check marks could mean a visit to a nice restaurant. The rewards could …

Personal Fitness and You

First off let me tell you that I am not a physical fitness nut, or instructor. In fact, I am about as far from that as one can get. I do believe that keeping your body in shape is a great source of pride and most certainly should add to your longevity.

With that being said, I will admit that I do not pursue that particular way of maintaining my body, or my mind. That's another story in itself. What I would like to share with you are some of my thoughts on how one of the ways being promoted in the physical fitness arena others me.

We are bombarded with ads on TV about the many different styles and types of equipment that can help us maintain our bodies. Everything from the simple to the complex. Since I am not personally using any of these, I am not able to tell if they actually do what they are promoted as being able to do. But, there does seem to be two common areas for all of them.

The first and most profit is that they are all made affordable to us. From the easy one time out of pocket expense, to the extremely reasonable monthly payment plan. This means that in reality, nobody should use the excuse of not being able to afford it! That being said, I do have a slight issue with the second common area.

I know some of you will say I am being a bit picky, but I am on the outside looking in. It seems as though every ad I see has either a woman, or a man, who appears to be in the best shape of their life. I realize that in order to promote the individual product, it sure helps to have a healthy looking man or woman showing you how easy it is, but I wonder how many people are looking at these ads actually see themselves in that light?

I am sure there would be far fewer sales if I was shown using the equipment! After all, who wants to see a regular average Joe with a bit of a pot on TV?

I guess I would just like to see, every once in a while, Joe or Jane average instead of those who look as though they had been continuously working on their bodies for years. For those who do, good for you !! It's just a bit of a stretch for me to even dream that 20 minutes a day, 3 days a week would ever get me looking that good.

If I am wrong, someone, anyone, please ship me one of those puppies so I can start looking like I feel !! …

Periodontal Disease Treatment – 5 Simple and Often Forgotten Points

Periodontal disease treatment starts with recognizing that you need additional help to overcome your gum disease. This disease occurs when the amount of bacteria in the mouth exceeds healthy levels. The bacteria may damage not only the gums and soft tissues in the mouth, but also may damage the teeth and the bone under the gums. Effective periodontal treatment is necessary before further complications incidence.

The following is a five-step plan to make periodontal disease treatment easier for you. In order for this gum disease treatment to work, be consistent about using it.

# 1: Use An All-Natural Solution To Brush Teeth

The best products for brushing teeth are not toothpastes. Toothpastes are unable to fight gingivitis as effectively since since many of them contain high levels of chemicals that further irritate your gums. Instead, use an all natural, bacteria killer such as botanical oils Properly brush your teeth using the product at least two times per day.

# 2: Floss

Flossing is an important part of periodontal disease treatment. Bleeding gums lead to deep pockets between the teeth and the gums. If you have gum pain, you need to floss. Flossing will remove the debris that allows bacteria to grow between the teeth and gum line.

# 3: Beware of So-called Gum Disease Remedies

Fluoride products lead to worsened health problems. Mouthwashes that contain alcohol strip away the bacteria but at the same time they dry the mouth. A dry mouth leads to the re-growth of bacteria at a faster pace than what you originally had. Do not make the problem worse by exposing your body to toxins and irritating agents. If you can not say it on the ingredients label, it is probably best not to buy it. Such natural ingredients as botanical oils have been proven effective for gum disease for generations. There are good choices available.

# 4: Use Natural Treatments

The next step in the periodontal treatment plan is to apply a topical treatment to the gums. The gum disease flourishes in the area just below your teeth. Even as you brush, floss and use mouthwash, bacteria is never fully removed and will continue to irritate the gums. You need something that will get to the root cause of gum disease – bacteria. It must reach it where it dwells – in the hard-to-reach crevices of the gum line.

# 5: See A Dentist

A dentist is a professional who can take your periodontal disease treatment to the next level, especially if the condition is advanced. You may need procedures to re-attach the gums to the teeth again. If you are using a gum disease treatment, your dentist will better be able to monitor your progress and give recommendations alone the way.

Overall, the best solution for avoiding several periodontal treatment is to react to it by improving your oral hygiene. You can effectively control bacteria in your mouth and give your immune system the opportunity to restore gum health. …

Lower Your Premiums With Florida Health Savings Account Plans (HSA)

I would like to talk to you today about Florida Health Savings Account plans (Florida HSA). This is a type of health insurance plan that offers very low cost premiums with a somewhat higher deductible.

Many of you have discovered how great these plans can be and have already taken advantage of them. The rest of you still have a frame of mind that prevails you from buying these cost-saving Florida health insurance plans. You still think that you will be able to buy a plan with low co-pays, covers everything and has a $ 100 deductible. Then again, many of you still hold on to the hope that Santa Claus is a real person.

Let's say you are sitting in your living room and a baseball flies through the window. It breaks a pane of glass. You call to have it repaired and the charges total $ 100. Your homeowner's policy has a $ 5,000 deductible so you pay out of pocket.

Chances are you do not spend the next day shouting about your rotten homeowner's policy that would not reimburse you the $ 100. Chances are that you do not shout at your home owner's insurance agent about "What the hell do I pay premiums for?"

Why? It is because you bought the policy to help pay for the things that can happen to a home that cost a lot of money. Situations like a fire or a hurricane. You are smart enough to know that if they paid for the broken window, your homeowner's plan would be even more outrageously expensive than it already is. You can pay for the window and your children will still eat tomorrow.

The purpose of insurance, any type of insurance, is to provide financial help for those situations that would have a hardship if we had to pay out of own pockets. The degree to which you want to be protected, in other words the amount of compensation you receive and the deductible (the amount you have to pay before the insurance company does), will determine how much you pay for insurance. It is as simple as that.

Those of you looking for a Florida health insurance plan with $ 10 co-pays, $ 100 deductibles, vision, dental and a limo to pick you up and take you to the doctor are living in a dream world. Health insurance premiums in Florida, in case you did not notice, are going up each year 8% to 20% depending on the carrier and plan.

Now, let's talk about an intelligent solution. The rest of this discussion will assume a working knowledge of 4th grade arithmetic. You do NOT have to smarter than a 5th grader to understand all of this.

All of our HSA plans are PPO's. In other words, if you go to a network provider (physician, lab, testing facility, etc.) you are owed to the discounted PPO rate for services. You will pay the reduced rate the insurance company pays. A physician …

The Mega Trends in the Dental Profession

Over recent times, many articles have been written on vast areas of dentistry and practicing, yet one important area seems to be overlooked – The mega trends in the dental profession. Today, we live in a rapidly changing society and there is much legislation that could completely change the landscape of practicing, hence the need to optimize performance to suit these changing times.

There is need to differentiate between mega trends and micro trends in the dental sub-sector. Micro trends refer to the minor developments which affect the way dentistry is practiced. Micro trends affect the manner in which certain tasks are done, yet they do not change the fundamentals of dental care.

On the hand, it should be understood that mega trends have a permanent impact on how practice is carried out. Among the most popular mega trends are the following: OHS compliance, reduced availability of dental staff, decreased funding for dental education and ensuring you meet the requirements of AHPRA, just to name a few. While most dental professionals are aware of micro trends, they have the obligation to understand any mega trends and respond appropriately

Government Regulations

Over the last 20 years, there has been a gradual increase in the amount of government regulations in dentistry. The increased government regulations have been largely due to the Occupational Health and Safety regulations, popularly known as OHS. These regulations were formulated in the mid 1980’s following the discovery of AIDS and its identification as a major public health issue.

AHPRA is the governing body in the Dental Industry with ALL practices n the health sector required to meet their changing standards

Dental Insurance

Dental coverage as a mega trend looms on the horizon. Over the next 10 years, more and more Australians will take out Dental Insurance or have it provided by their employers. As patients covered by the insurance plans will be searching for practices that participate, which hopefully most already do. As the number of people covered by dental insurance rises, the maximum benefits will remain the same and will have a huge impact on overall profitability of the practice.

Diagnosis and Treatment

Technologies and materials are ever changing and improving as we know and it is important to be up to date with these advances. Why – not only to carry out superior and high quality treatments, yet to be at a distinct advantage in the market.

The challenge for many practitioners is that around 80 percent of appointments are still for single tooth treatments, a figure that represents a mere reduction by 6 percent when compared to 20 years ago. The only way to turn these statistical figures around is by adapting to mega trends on diagnosis and also on treatment. A large percentage of appointments require deeper diagnosis and comprehensive treatment than is currently evident. Are you recognizing the opportunity to remain not only more productive and accurate in diagnosis, yet also profitable? When a practitioner carries out a more comprehensive diagnosis, a duty …

You Can Lose More Than Just Your Smile

Every year you should visit the dentist for an annual check-up, but how often does anyone of us visit the dentist without we have a problem with our teeth? Did you know that if you get your yearly check-ups, it is less likely that you would need to visit the dentist for anything more than a good cleaning? When going to see your dentist, on the other hand, you may need to visit more than once a year depending on the problem.

Through the Eyes of a dentist

An orthodontist is a specialization in dentistry. As small as an imperfection could be, if left long enough on its own without treatment, the condition could get worse. You may think that something as minor as a crooked tooth or a small gap in your teeth may be insignificant, but you might be wrong. Did you know that teeth imperfections can negatively affect your mouth and jaw and, by extension, impair your speech?

During your visit to the dentist, you may be referred to a dentist. Where one person may see all the flaws of your mouth, a professional dentist sees all the possibilities

What Does a dentist specialist Really Do?

The main procedures performed by a dentist involve teeth straightening in the areas of over bites, cross bites, and crooked teeth, to name a few. So when you need to get braces and retainers, this is the doctor you will need to see.

A dentist makes it possible for his patients to smile again, without hesitation and without fear. Surgery is done if there are major imperfections or irregularities of your teeth, while minor imperfections may just need retainers.

Through diagnosis and treatments, dental doctors are able to improve jaw relationship to fix the lack of proportion and teeth irregularity. These can be identified based on the characteristics based on the misalignment of the teeth of the patient.

Some dentist does not only improve the aesthetics of one's teeth, but they may also want to make an improvement on their faces as well. This is falls under cosmetic dentistry.

Is There Any Particular Age Group that Visits the Orthodontist?

All age groups see the orthodontist but the most prominent are preteens and teenagers. This age bracket tends to visit the orthodontist more because it is during this time where they are getting their last set of teeth, mainly wisdom teeth, and they may run across some teeth alignment issues. If these issues are not deal with before full oral development, there is a chance that permanent damage could be done.

What are the Signs of a Good Orthodontist?

The dentist should be able to perform a proper assessment of imperfections in your teeth, as well as providing a detailed explanation about the procedure / s to be done, giving options where necessary. Your dentist should also be fully capable of answering all relevant questions relating to the condition occurred, how long the treatment process would be, as well as what should …
