Montgomery County adds 3 COVID-19 deaths as total now 179

Montgomery County logged three more COVID-19-related deaths Tuesday along with 137 new active cases.

The Montgomery County Public Health District confirmed just under 268 new COVID-19 cases for a total of 18,183 with 3,502 of those active. With the three deaths, the total is now 172.

The deaths are three men including a Conroe man in his 30s, a Pinehurst man in his 20s, and a Porter man in his 50s. The Conroe and Pinehurst men were hospitalized at the time of their deaths and the Porter man was in hospice care.

All had other medical conditions in addition to testing positive for the virus.

To date, 11,079 people have recovered.

Total hospitalizations, both county and non-county residents, increased two to 159, with 39 patients in ICU.

Montgomery County commissioners on Monday approved buying more than $400,000 in N-95 masks as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

Executive Director of Emergency Management and Homeland Security Jason Millsaps said that amount will buy 250,000 masks from Ohio-based Safeware and 15,000 cases of masks from Ohio-based Bound Tree.
