Shaun T Insanity VS the P90X Workout Program – Which One is Better?

Over the next couple minutes you will learn the comparisons and differences between these two rival “workout at home” exercise programs.

The P90X workout program used to be the one exercise program that everyone knew thanks to early morning and late night infomercials. Recently Beachbody added a new program to the game that to some may be considered a rival, that program is Shaun T Insanity.

But which one is more intense?

Comparably they are both equal in their own rights but each workout program focuses on a different approach towards fitness.

I have personally used both programs and this gives me the rare opportunity to offer a first hand look at both the P90X workout program and Shaun T Insanity. After this article you will be fully equipped with the answers you are looking for.

Which works better? P90X or the Insanity workout?

Great questions, though it’s hard to put both workout programs side by side as it’s not a simple apples to apples comparison but more like apples to oranges. Both programs are capable of offering a huge physical challenge but each has it’s own approach and it’s own target results. I’ll explain.

The P90X workout program is a 90 day system which could otherwise be considered an “at home boot camp”. You will need a chin up bar, a chair, a set of dumbbells and/or bands, shoes, plus about 1 hour to 1 hour and a half 6 days a week. The 7th day is an optional stretch or complete rest day.

From first hand experience I like to look at P90X as a “all-in-one” program. It is not designed to just bulk you up, it’s not going to just help you lose weight, it’s not just balance, and it’s not just cardio.

The P90X workout program just tosses a bit of everything into the equation. You lift heavy one day (or light if you want);, you’re punching and kicking with Kenpo karate another day, and to top it off on other days you will be doing 1 and a half hours of Yoga for a complete mind/ body/ soul adventure.

You will go through three phases of 1 month each in P90X with each month switching it up. Most of the cardio, stretch, and balance routines stay the same. The difference in each phase is that you change out the resistance workouts so that your muscles are constantly challenged so they will always be receptive to the workout rather than plateauing.

Shaun T Insanity takes a completely different approach. The workout program is 60-days in length and is based solely on Plyometrics, Core, and Cardio training. You will not lift weights, you will not do chin ups, you don’t need a chair, and the workouts range from 35-45 minutes the first phase to 1 hour and 15 minutes the second phase.

You will need very good shoes, preferably a mat to jump on, and near perfect form to avoid injury.

I’ve reviewed several fitness fads, and I will be reviewing some more here. I’ll be explaining what they are and how beneficial they may be. Maybe you want to try a new workout routine today!

Piloxing – I haven’t tried this one, but, it looks like fun! Of course, I love anything with boxing in it! So, this newest workout routine is a cross between pilates and boxing. This concept was invented by Viveca Jensen, and I think it’s genius! It gives you an all over body workout, or a core workout. You know me! I’m all about the core workouts! And this really is mostly core during this workout, adding in cardio, strength, stretching, and an all over body workout. This workout routine really has it all!

Aerojump – Boxers use jumping rope in their workout routines, and know how important it is for agility, quick movements, and their cardio training. A boxer has to go for three minutes in the ring, and it’s all or nothing! Those three minutes are absolutely exhausting, and they know they have to be toned for it! So, aerojump was invented by a boxer, of course! Michael Olajide’ Jr invented this jump rope routine that tones all the muscles in the body as well as provides excellent cardio. The claim is that you can burn 450 calories in just 10 minutes with this routine! Awesome! It’s extremely high intensity, and looks to be a lot of fun. I haven’t tried this one either.

Tae Bo – I have done Tae Bo, and lot’s of it! It’s an older one, but, I don’t think it’s gone out of style yet. This is a fantastic all over body workout! It targets the core as well as increases strength, stamina, speed, and power. Besides, it’s a lot of fun. I love boxing, and though in Tae Bo, you don’t actually hit any bags, it’s still a lot of fun and a great fast paced workout. It will get you in shape very quickly. It’s a combination of Tae Kwondo and boxing put to fun, fast paced music. The class lasts an hour, and it is a high intensity workout. It’s designed for both men and women.

Reebok Treadmill Model 9500 ES – Is It A Treadmill Or Home Entertainment System?

The Reebok Treadmill Model 9500 ES is so packed with features that I wonder if it should be described as a treadmill at all! Combining fitness with fun, its more of a one stop workout and mini entertainment venue right there in your own home. An expensive gadget or a cheaper alternative to a fitness membership? I guess that depends on how much you pay at your fitness center, and how often you use it.

As more and more New York City apartment buildings look to attract new buyers and renters, there is an ever grow list of amenities being offered. This can range from a doorman and/or a concierge on premises to an onsite gym, space permitted, for residents. If you’re one of those people that has a tendency to come up with some really great “reasons” (read: excuses) to skip out on your boot camp sessions then your best bet is to get started early in the morning. A recent study showed that people who get their training in first thing in the day are 75% more likely to stick with it and make it part of their routine.

2. Set Realistic Goals.

How many times have you had such extreme expectations of yourself that feels like you’re always failing and falling short of your goals? Imagine, it's 11 AM and you are in high school. You just finished your second class of the day and you are heading towards the gymnasium.
